‘Captured Motion’, HR Wallingford, Oxfordshire
‘Captured Motion’ is the result of a design process which saw Michelle visiting and discussing ideas with staff at HR Wallingford, who presented inspirational images of the theme of the earth photographed from the air. HR Wallingford wanted a design that suggested the movement and textures of water, rivers and the earth’s terrain without being a direct representation of this theme, and Michelle’s existing work using metal leaf and metal oxides as inclusions within the glass seemed the perfect process to suggest this. The resulting artwork was made of 30 kilnformed and edge polished glass panels to cover 5metres by 1.5 metres of wall. Bespoke brackets were designed by Michelle so that they became a part of the design.
